Philips C. Jessup Moot Court Competition 2014

Department of Laws in collaboration with Surana & Surana International Attorneys has organized Philips C. Jessup Moot Court Competition 2014 India-North Rounds from 24 to 26 January, 2014.  The inauguration of the function was held in the Moot Court Hall of the Department on 24^th January, 2014 at 5.30 p.m.  Prof. Nishtha Jaswal, Chairperson welcomed Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rajive Bhalla, Judge, Punjab & Haryana High Court, dignitaries and the participants.  Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rajive Bhalla, Judge, Punjab & Haryana High Court delivered the inaugural address. Justice Bhalla, alumnus of Department of Law, Panjab University of the year 1978 said that there were no moot court competition opportunities during his time, whereas today students have lots of such opportunities. These moot court competitions provide a platform to the young students to learn nuances of the subject, art of advocacy and meticulous research in preparing the case. Mr. R. L. Kapoor, Advisor & Secretary to Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University presided over this function.  

Sh. G.K. Chatrath, Dean, Faculty of Law, Shri Satya Pal Jain, MP, faculty members and students attended the function. Mr. Preetam Surana, nominee of Surana & Surana International Attorneys proposed vote of thanks.  

This International Moot Court Competition is held for the first time in Department of Laws, Panjab University where 17 teams from North India are participating.
