RULE I: LANGUAGE
The Competition shall be in
English.
RULE II: TEAM COMPOSITION
Each team shall consist of
2 or 3 members from the First, second or third year; out of them 2 have to be
speakers and one researcher; and if the team consists of 2 members, then both
of them shall be the speakers.
RULE III: REGISTRATION
All the teams have to get
themselves registered by 23rd September, 2015, by filling the online
registration form available at
RULE IV: MEMORIALS
The following requirements
for memorials must be strictly complied with. Non-conformities will be penalised:
a.
Each team must prepare memorials for both parties to the dispute.
b. After
the submission of memorials, no revision, supplements or additions will be
allowed.
c.
Two hard copies each of the memorials of both the parties to the dispute must
be submitted either to Mr Rakesh Mohindra, Librarian in the Library latest
by October 5, 2015 by 1:00 P.M. for the purpose of evaluation. Late submissions
will result in penalties.
d.
The memorials have to be submitted on A4 size paper printed on one side and
must contain (within the prescribed limits):

The font should either be “Times New Roman” or “Arial” size 12 and double
spaced for the main text. Footnotes must be in font size 10, single-spaced and
double space left between footnotes.
f.
Memorials must have a one inch margin on all sides of each page.
g. Covers must be placed on
the memorials as follows:
Plaintiff:
Blue, Defendant: Red
h.
The cover page of the memorials must state the following:

The

Identity
of Memorial as Plaintiff or Defendant
i. The identity of the
members shall not be revealed anywhere in the memorial. Violations of this
provision shall result in penalties including disqualification. The decision of
the Moot Court Co-ordinator will be final.
RULE V: ORAL ROUNDS
A.
There would
be two preliminary rounds (round I and round II), quarterfinal, semi-final and
final rounds.
a.
Each
team would be allowed a maximum of 20 minutes in the preliminary rounds and
quarterfinals. No speaker shall take more than 10 minutes.
b.
Each
team would be allowed a maximum of 30 minutes in the semi-finals and finals. No
speaker shall take more than 18 minutes.
NOTE: ORAL SUBMISSION (EVALUATION)
(i)
Each Speaker shall be marked on a total of
100 marks. The total scores of the team shall be evaluated on the basis of
aggregate marks obtained by both the Speakers of the team.
(ii)
Scoring criteria is given below:

ensure uniformity in the marking system, all Judges shall be provided with a
marking guideline.
c. Best
speaker will be decided on the basis of oral marks in the Preliminary round.

RULE VI:
SCOUTING
a.
Teams will not be allowed to observe the orals of any other team till the time
the team is declared to have advanced to the next round. Scouting is strictly
prohibited. Scouting by any of the teams will result in disqualification.
b. Any team can file a
written complaint with the Moot Court Co-ordinator, regarding a case of
scouting. The decision of the Chairman, Department of Laws will be final.

Inside the Court Room
the participants shall be in Formal Wears only.

RULE IX: NOTES
·
Copy
of the Proposition and Rules are available at library/ Department website.
·
No
withdrawal will be permitted except under exceptional circumstances.
·
Audience
will be permitted only after the preliminary rounds.
RULE X:
Under all circumstances the
decision of Chairman, Department of Laws, will be final.
